- These images show the effect of a Neo-ice Cold Treatment Bandage applied to a hot limb over a 12 minute period. Prior to the application of the product, the horse was exercised to raise body temperature and simulate the conditions in which the product would most likely be used. Note that in this case the temperature of the limb has been reduced from approximately 27ºC to 20ºC.
- The application of cold for the treatment of injury or disease is widespread in sports medicine. It is an established method when treating acute soft tissue injuries. Ice packs, gel packs, and refrigerant gases can be used.
- Furthermore, cold is also used to reduce recovery time as part of a rehabilitation programme after acute injuries and in the treatment of chronic injuries, and to reduce pain effectively in post-operative periods after reconstructive surgery of the joints.
